unum:EAP program

Did you know that as a team member of the Miami County ESC you have access to free resources to help when life gets a little too challenging?

All Miami County ESC employees have access to an Employee Assistance Program through a company called unum.  Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) are designed to provide support during challenging times.  The EAP support is available to staff and family members of employees.  Stressful situations can affect your health, well-being, and ability to focus on what's important.  Through an EAP you can pick up the phone and speak to a confidential consultant who can help you or a family member to:

-Locate child care and elder care services (obtain matches to the appropriate provider based on your and your family's preferences and criteria)

-Speak with financial experts (regarding issues such as budgeting, controlling debt, teaching children to manage money, investing for college, and preparing for retirement)

-Work through complex, sensitive issues (this is probably the most valuable component of the EAP - the consultant will get you or your family member connected to a local counseling professional to help with mental health challenges, substance abuse, or other personal issues)

-Get a referral to a local attorney (free 30-minute, in-person or telephone legal consultation)

Please check out the following links for flyers and resources to navigate the unum process.

For a shortcut - call (800) 854-1446 between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm Monday-Thursday and 8:00am-5:00pm Friday.  Provide them with the name of our company (Miami County Educational Service Center) and the consultant will take it from there.

The health, wellness, and happiness of you and your family are extremely important to the Miami County ESC.  The EAP is a free, confidential step towards help during troubling times.

Thank you all for everything you do for the Miami County ESC!
